Jolynn Dowling holds the Janice M. Riordan Distinguished Professorship in Maternal Child Health at Wichita State University. Her scholarly activity and research has focused on health promotion of chest/breastfeeding and increasing access to education and support for vulnerable populations at risk for early maternal and infant death. She has authored or co-authored textbook chapters and journal publications specific to lactation as health promotion, social policy and lactation, and infant assessment. Ms. Dowling Is Co-I on funded NIH research exploring the development of a novel wearable fetal heart monitor. She has recently developed a lactation simulation lab and has instructed over 200 undergraduate and graduate nursing students in the care of the postpartum lactating parent.
