After completing her Bachelor of Science at the University of Nevada-Reno and teaching Middle and High School Life Skills. While working as a childbirth educator, she completed a Master of Science at the University of Nevada in Reno, focusing on infant nutrition. She completed a Doctoral degree in Nutrition at the University of California in Davis. Dr. Francis completed her Dietetics Internship through the University of Iowa with a Fellowship at the 96th Medical Group at Eglin Air Force Base, providing lactation care in the mother/baby unit.
Dr. Francis became credentialled as an Internationally Board-certified Lactation Consultant in 1993. She trains new healthcare providers in Advanced Lactation Management in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Francis teaches at UTSA and maintains a small private practice aiding new families experiencing breastfeeding challenges. Dr. Francis provides direct care to military families free of charge through the Foundation for Maternal, Infant, and Lactation Knowledge.
