Lisa Mandell, MBA, IBCLC, serves as ILCA's Global Advocacy Adviser, and is based out of Pennsylvania, USA. Lisa's early professional background was in marketing, and she first certified as an IBCLC in 2005. Lisa worked in hospitals and in private practice, served on the ILCA board as secretary from 2011-2017, and then volunteered as the ILCA liaison to the United Nations. As ILCA's Global Advocacy Adviser, Lisa has worked closely with the Global Breastfeeding Collective, WHO, and UNICEF, as well as other international partners in breastfeeding advocacy (NetCode, BFHI, WABA, PMNCH, and others). Lisa's work in this area includes organizing webinars on skilled breastfeeding counseling and other topics, serving on the Coordination Committee for the Global Breastfeeding Collective, maintaining ILCA's special consultative status with the United Nations and as a non-state actor in official relations with the World Health Organization, helping to represent ILCA at Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses, participating in efforts to engage healthcare professional associations in meeting their obligations under the Code, participating in planning a Congress on the Code, and more.
